Hi my name is Hayley Short and welcome to my little corner of the world! My journey started in 2018 when I fell in love with my art classes at butte community college. out of this came Short Exposure Photography! I loved painting as well at the time but was operating mainly in photography as a side hustle to get me through college. When transferring to Chico state I opened it up to all forms of art that I specialized in and Short exposure art studios was born!
I am a local artist out of the Yuba Sutter area. I emphasis in digital media and photography with a love for the traditional arts as well specifically in printmaking and painting. I have three AA-T's from Butte Community College in Art history, Studio Arts, and Anthropology. In May of 2024 I graduated from Chico State University with two BA's, one in Art Education and one in Art Studio, both emphasizing in digital media with a minor in photographic studies.
During my time at Chico State I explored themes of home, emotional ties and identity. My work stems from the world around me, the positive and negative- interpreting my own emotions on society and putting them in my art. I tends to start small with my ideas and build larger. I like to reach for the sky whenever is possible and she allows the art to speak for itself.
I have several influences and draws from several periods of art history to help create my work. Looking at different mediums and different techniques allows me to keep growing as an artist. I look at people like Vladimir Kush, Salvador Dalí, René Magritte, Pablo Picasso, Paul Cezanne, Eric Staller and Dean Chamberlain for inspiration.
I am drawn to surrealism and the element of color and
movement to impact her work. I look at texture and shading as a way to enhance my work.
Overall I wish to accomplish at least half of what these artists have accomplished in their lifetime.

I am not only an artist but also an educator.
"A teacher Is like a compass. The compass points students in the right direction. It is a guide to show the way for learning a new concept or striving for a better life."
I grew up doodling and painting, constantly wanting to explore new mediums and find ways to throw them out into the world. It was my form of self expression but also actively being creative and letting that spark that lives in me burn. I was lucky and fortunate enough to go to a high school that gave me the resources in order to do this. Art classes, drama, digital media, and photography.
My senior year of high school I fell in love with art and grew that passion from the teachers and professors that mentored me along the way. I want to give that passion to others. I want to create an environment where students want to come and learn. Where they are asking questions and actively seeking out answers or solutions. She wants to spread the love art and creating in this way. She strives to see the happiness that the creativeness sparks in
others.
